Instead of leaving the soul society right away for Hueco Mundo (as would be canon with the series), Gin, Aizen, and Touzen are planning to use the Otherkin for their experiments. The three are promising freedom and equality for the Otherkin, while they are really planning to experiment on the species. They plan to use the Otherkin for their own gains, hoping to have their own secret "super soldiers" to use against the soul society. They intend to stage their own deaths so they can leave the soul society and take on new identities to gain the trusts of the Otherkin.
Eventually Aizen will take the Otherkin into Hueco Mundo and begin to experiment with the arrancar and whatnot as well. This part will remain slightly canon, the main difference being that the Otherkin are living amongst the arrancar.
