Addonexus
What is Addonexus, and what are these so-called "Mortal Reapers?"
Addonexus is an organization of "Mortal Reapers", a sort of reapers similar to soul reapers. Mortal Reapers are the reapers that do the dirty work; they separate the souls from the bodies before the scheduled death. To understand how this is done, one must first understand how Addonexus is set up.
How Addonexus Works
Addonexus divides it's Mortal Reapers into groups of five mortal reapers. One Mortal Reaper is made the leader of the group based upon experience and leadership skills. The other reapers in the group who help him are often referred to as sub-reapers. The lead reaper receives a list of souls to be taken at the start of each morning. The list is given to the leader by a sort of messenger-spirit, who receives the list from the highest ranks of the organization. The souls to be taken are divided amongst the other members of the group, the members only getting the name, time, and location of the person(s).
The Seperation of the Soul
When a mortal reaper takes a soul, the mortal reaper must make run their fingertips along the persons body to separate the soul from the body. When the person's body is officially dead the soul will leave the body to be taken by a soul reaper. If this is not done before the person's death the chain of life could possibly be shortened, depending on how damaged the body is during the death, which puts the soul at risk of turning into a hollow.
Consequences of Preventing Scheduled Deaths
It doesn't matter how the Mortal Reaper goes about it, if a scheduled death does not happen,bad things happen. The consequence of preventing the deaths is only more deaths. The number of however many deaths did not happen will be doubled, so there will be even more souls to separate the next day. This creates more work for the whole team of Mortal Reapers, so this whole tragedy is best avoided by simply doing the job right the first time.
Physical Characteristics
Mortal Reapers must be careful while separating the souls because they can be seen by humans and spirits alike. This happens because their bodies are very much real; however, they are much more stronger and durable than the body of a human. Their bodies allow them to reproduce amongst themselves and humans. Pregnancy and childbirth is very much the same as it is in humans. Children born between two Mortal Reapers will be Mortal Reapers, and children born between a Mortal Reaper and a human will carry only human traits. Mortal Reaper children age at the same speed as a normal human child until they finish their toddler years. The decline in physical aging starts early in childhood and continues to progress as the years pass. Mortal Reapers age slower and slower the older they are, much like a Soul Reaper.
Mortal Reapers can die much the same way as Soul Reapers do. When a Mortal Reaper dies, a new Mortal Reaper will be sent to the group.
